The Odisha Government on Tuesday announced an assistance of Rs five crore from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for relief and restoration works in the flood-hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reportedly said that the unprecedented flood in Jammu and Kashmir had taken a heavy toll of valuable lives and caused extensive damage to property.

Expressing his heartfelt condolences for the bereaved families, Patnaik asked 40 trained personnel of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force with all required rescue equipment, boats and submersible pumps, to undertake the rescue and relief operations in the affected areas immediately.
