The panel of candidates will surely be considered before distributing the tickets for elections but the final decision lies with the Congress high command, said UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal after taking interview of candidates for Jaipur division at Circuit House.
He said the final panel earlier prepared by sub-committees may be changed after the interview exercise. The UDH informed that such an extensive exercise is being conducted only to identify the wining candidates and questions were also asked accordingly.
“The sole criteria are to give ticket to a winning candidate.
We asked them about the possible contestants of all the parties from their areas and possible strategy of the opposition. Candidates were asked about their strategy to win the election, how they will counter their opponents and local politics of the area,” said Dhariwal.
When asked whether tickets will be given to only one of the candidate panels in the panel, he said the panel will definitely be considered before taking any decision. But the final call is in the hands of party high command but tickets will be given only to wining candidates.
On the issue of BSP turned Congress legislators he said, “They have been in Congress for last 5 years. All the 101 legislators of ruling party are Congress man and party will not discriminate them over their previous profiles. Even the independents who are now into party will be treated at party with others.”
