According to reports, when the chief minister was addressing the public meeting at Narasipuram village as part of his 'Neeru-Chettu' programme, a farmer called Ramu from the nearby Chinbhogili village of Sitaphal mandal reached the spot with pesticide.

When the AP CM was addressing the public, the farmer consumed pesticide in public view, creating a commotion and forcing the AP CM to stop the meeting for a while.

Reports stated that the distressed farmer tried to end his life because the local Village Development Officer (VRO) had been allegedly harassing him for a long time. He was immediately taken a local hospital where his condition is stated to be serious.
