In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore was attacked by her in-laws with an acid after an astrologer told the mother-in-law that she was carrying a girl, reports NDTV.
The family attempted to kill the woman, Girija, by throwing acid on her stomach after coming to know about the prediction. Girija was taken to the hospital by her neighbours. She has suffered 30% burns and is yet to recover.
The police has filed an FIR a case of attempt to murder against the in-laws and arrested the woman's husband and father-in-law.
The matter came to light on August 26.
Open sale of acid is banned by Supreme Court order. The police is checking what kind of acid was used to kill the Girija.
