A hotel worker, who was allegedly posing as a superintendent of police and threatening people over the telephone, was arrested here, police said today.

Surendra Uniyal, working in a hotel in Ludhiana in Punjab, was allegedly calling people posing as the 'SP' of Amritsar, they said.

Police was on a hunt for him since September 2009, when he also talked to the SP of Almora from Amritsar after introducing himself as the SP of that district.

Uniyal, originally a resident of Purola, Uttarkashi, was arrested when he came for some work in Pandekhola area here. He has been booked under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code, including those related to impersonating a public servant.
