How could the bulk of the counterfeit currency be dumped in the Indian market? Police investigations have found out that the Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) are printed in Pakistan and then allegedly smuggled into India via Bangladesh, Nepal, Dubai and Sri Lanka. The recent scam has its link with West Bengal and Delhi, which has forced the police to expand its investigations to Bangladesh and Nepal. A senior cop, earlier associated in the investigations of the FICN, said that the counterfeit currency reaches Bangladesh through sea route from Dubai. However police are yet to get any strong leads in this direction. Police sources also said that once they reach India, the FICNs are distributed to the agents in the country on the basis of the information provided by the 'resident agents.' The resident agents then inform the others who eventually circulate the FICNs in the market.
