Fact Check: Railways to stop train services from December 1? Know the truth

A lot of misinformation and fake news has flooded social media ever since the coronavirus pandemic hit India. In the age of the Internet and social media, it has become very important to know what is correct and what is fake.

Lately, a WhatsApp message is going viral on social media platforms which claims that all the trains operated by the Indian Railways will stop running from December 1.

The message further states that the trains which were announced by the government to ferry passengers in view of coronavirus will also be stopped from operating, thus resulting in panic among a lot of train passengers.

However, the message is totally fake. The fact check wing of the Government's Press Information Bureau refuted such claims on social media and said that the Ministry of Railways has taken no such decision on halting train services after December 1.

In a tweet, PIB wrote, "It is claimed in a #WhatsApp forward that all trains including the #COVID19 special trains will stop operating after 1st December. #PIBFactCheck: This claim is #Fake. @RailMinIndia has taken no such decision on halting of train services after 1st December."
