CHANDIGARH: Former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh, his son Raninder and former cabinet minister Chaudhary Jagjit Singh are among 36 persons charge-sheeted in the Rs2100-crore Ludhiana City Centre scam.

The Vigilance Bureau had registered a case in the matter soon after the Akali Dal-BJP government came to power in February this year.

The former chief minister and others have been charged with accepting hefty bribes to allot the multi-crore-rupee project to Delhi-based developer Today Homes and Infrastructure Ltd.

Amarinder dismissed it all terming it chief minister Parkash Singh Badal’s attempt to malign his image. He said since a case of corruption was made out against Badal during the Congress rule, he (Badal) is now trying to settle scores. “This is cheap politics of vengeance.”
