Twenty-eight-year old Puducherry mountaineer Sandosh Kumar who scaled Mt Everest recently would be presented a Rs3 lakh cash award on the 64th Independence day tomorrow.

Chief minister V Vaithilingam,who announced the award at a function on May 31 this year, would present the award to the Kumar, hailing from a family of freedom fighters at Sanyasikuppam village in Bahoor commune panchayat limitsSandosh Kumar, who spent some time in Singapore during his career, climbed the peak as part of his mission to propagate awareness among the public on the need to prevent child abuse.He commenced the expedition in March and returned on May 23. He planted a banner with the slogan `Tamizh Vazhga` (long live Tamil) on reaching the world's tallest peak.He was the only Indian in the international expedition.
