Woman police officials have protested against the 'sideline' postings they get in the police stations at city and district levels.
Woman police officials have protested against the 'sideline' postings they get in the police stations at city and district levels.
They demonstrated the desire to play important roles in the mainstream policing instead of being kept on the sidelines at non-policing posts. Women police officials, ranging from the posts of police constable to that of an additional director general of police, met for the conference based on 'General realities and understanding laws related to women.'
Women officials from the entire state posted at different levels gathered at the Karai police academy for the conference and emphasised how senior cops underestimate the policewomen and do not allot them mainstream policing jobs.
"Most of the women police constables are either asked to receive calls at the police station or track the information communicated (wireless) in the department," said Shusila Patel, a police constable posted at Rajkot rural. Most of them had the same reason of discontent and complained of 'biased' posting to police stations and districts.
Taraben, a police constable posted at Himmatnagar, said, most of the women officials are not allowed to work in night shifts and are also not posted to the stations where some investigation is being carried on.
However, the director general of police (in-charge) Chitranjan Singh during his address informed that the fresh recruited woman police officials will be posted in the mainstream police stations.
