In a joint raid with volunteers of animal welfare organisation People For Animals (PFA), police today seized endangered animals and birds in Indirapuram area of the Ghaziabad.

45 rabbits, 107 Indian and white pigeons and 45 common moorhen were seized from a tempo, Station Officer of Indira Puram Police Station Hari Dayal Singh Yadav said.

Driver and three other men on the vehicle escaped leaving the tempo behind, he said.

The creatures were admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Centre in Delhi.

A case under sections of Wildlife Protection Act and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Transport of Animals Rules 1978 and IPC should be registered, and the culprits be apprehended.
