Elusive Ulfa chief Paresh Baruah tries to reach out to PMO for peace-talks
PMO officials are sceptical about it and the security circle is reluctant to trust the elusive Ulfa chief.
The Prime Minister's Office was recently approached by some religious and spiritual leaders reportedly to convey a message from elusive Ulfa chief Paresh Baruah that he wanted to kickstart peace-talks with the government, reports The Asian Age. However according to the report, Baruah's offer didn't invoke much of a reaction in PMO.
They were reportedly unsure about Baruah's intentions.
It is percieved that crackdown of security forces on insurgents in Myanmar may be a possible reason for Baruah's change of heart. Changing political scenario of Myanmar as well as Naga peace accord may have compelled Ulfa chief to discover an exit route, sources told The Asian Age.
In North-East the problem of insurgency is much lesser than before and Naga accord is seen as a big breakthrough in this direction.
