AHMEDABAD: Eight undertrials on Saturday escaped from the police lockup in Visnagar town in Meshana district after breaking the door, police said.
  
They escaped after breaking open the door of the lockup in the absence of adequate security personnel, police said.
 
A state alert has been sounded with the police tightening security at all state borders and setting up checkposts to trace them.
