Eight convicted in Kandhamal arson case
The judgment was pronounced by fast track court-I judge SK Das while disposing of a case relating to case of arson at Megubali village under Daringbadi police station.
A local court today sentenced eight persons to three years imprisonment for setting fire to houses belonging to minority community people during the Kandhamal riot in 2008.The court also imposed a fine of Rs1,000 on each of the eight persons.The judgment was pronounced by fast track court-I judge SK Das while disposing of a case relating to case of arson at Megubali village under Daringbadi police station.Of the total 24 persons accused in the case, 16 people were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
