State Chief Electoral Officer Shantmanu said that the notice was served following objection that the car in which she had come on June 1 to file her nomination papers was carrying the national as well as the state flags, which is not allowed. The notice was issued to her on June 2, he said.

Another objection that she was using an official car was overruled as she is a Z-plus protectee and is authorised to use an official vehicle, he said. Mehbooba is contesting the Anantnag bypoll to be held on June 22. The byelection was necessitated following the demise of her father and the then Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed here.
