After successful supply to over 2,000 domestic consumers, Piped Natural Gas (PNG) supply will soon be available to colonies in eastern part of the city.
Avantika Gas Ltd, the company supplying PNG in Indore, will soon start the pipeline laying work and simultaneously start the booking of fresh connections in colonies like Saket, Palasia, South Tukoganj and Tilak Nagar.
“We have floated tenders for supplying PNG to Saket and shortly the pipeline laying work would commence," said Aavantika Gas Limited (AGL) managing director Pradip Madan.
Significantly, the Centre after limiting number of subsidised cylinders to 9 per year per connection has put numbers of restrictions on issuance of new connections and delivery of refills for LPG consumers.
This has made piped gas supply an attractive option for households.
Vishal Khatri, a resident of Saket Nagar, said that getting LPG refills is becoming difficult day by day, so receiving piped supply of fuel seems more convenient.
City residents were initially sceptical about safety involved in PNG supply.
Automobile dealer Prakash Kumar, a resident of South Tukoganj, claimed that PNG now seems an easier fuel option. "At least, we don't have to run around for getting a cylinder," he said.
Madan said that the company plans to increase tally of PNG consumers to 10,000 by end of this fiscal. At present the company has 2,000 domestic PNG consumers.
