NEW DELHI: An all new E-filing system will become operational on the Supreme Court website from October 2 for filing the petitions in the apex court.

"A user friendly programme with interactive features has been prepared by the NIC, which can be used by any advocate-on-record or petitioner for the purpose," a release said on Saturday.

Every advocate-on-record would be given a password to file counter, rejoinder, fresh application, caveat or additional documents for the purpose, while the petitioner-in person would have to submit the identity proof to use E-filing system.

A unique reference number would also be assigned to every user for each case, it said, adding that any defects detected by the registry would be communicated through e-mail to the person concerned.

The payment of court fee and printing charges could also be made through any credit or debit card in the system.
