Hundreds of people, including women and children braved restrictions imposed by police and thronged the ground to witness the fireworks and the ritual of burning the effigies this evening.

Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, accompanied by several cabinet colleagues, was also present at the celebrations. The event was organised by Kashmiri Pandits Sangarsh Samiti (KPSS). Dussehra is celebrated on the culmination of nine days of Navratras.

Kashmiri Pandits restarted celebrating the festival in the Valley after the gap of 20 years in 2007 and the celebrations are an annual feature since then.
