On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several other political leaders greeted the people of the nation on Sunday.

The Prime Minister took to Twitter to greet countrymen on Mahanavami, the ninth day of Navratri festival on Sunday.

Dussehra 2020: Greetings by leaders

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted people on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami.

"Good wishes to all countrymen on Vijaya Dashami. May this grand festival marking the victory of truth over untruth and of goodness over evil may bring new inspiration into everyone's life," he said in a tweet.

President Ram Nath Kovind extended greetings to citizens on the occasion of Dussehra while wishing for prosperity among the people of India.

"Dussehra greetings and best wishes to all countrymen. This festival symbolizes the victory of truth over religion and falsehood over wrongdoing. I wish that this festival of joy, protects everyone from the effects of the epidemic and bring prosperity among the countrymen," the President tweeted.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu extended his best wishes to the citizens. Taking to social media, the Vice President wrote, "I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra. Celebrated with great fervor and zeal all over the country, Dussehra symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Happy Dussehra."

The Vice President also cautioned everyone to celebrate the festival with strict precautions as the threat of COVID-19 infections isn't over yet.

Home Minister Amit Shah also greeted people of the nation on the auspicious occasion of 'Mahanavami'.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi greeted people saying truth ultimately triumphs. "Truth ultimately triumphs. Good wishes to all on Vijaya Dashami," he said in a tweet in Hindi with the hashtag "HappyDussehra".

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended his wishes in a tweet and said that he will visit the Nathula area of Sikkim and meet the soldiers of the Indian Army, today.

"Best wishes to all the countrymen on the Vijayadashami festival. On this auspicious occasion today, I will visit the Nathula area of Sikkim and meet the soldiers of the Indian Army and will also be present in the Shastra Pujan ceremony," Singh said in a tweet.

The 10th day of Sharad Navratri is celebrated as Dussehra or Vijay Dashami. It is celebrated with great joy and fervour across India by burning the effigies of Ravan in open fields to symbolise the victory of 'good' over 'evil.'
