Dummy writers case: Trustee and doc’s bail plea rejected

The magistrate court on Monday rejected the bail application of Muktak Kapadia, a trustee of HB Kapadia School, Memnagar and Dr Yatin Sanandiya who were on Friday arrested in the dummy writer's case.  The investigation authority alleged that Kapadia has played an important role in providing dummy writers as well as executing the entire scam.

Kapadia had provided two students of his school as writers to Harsh Kotak and Komal Patel, without seeking permission from the education department.

Police found that initially two writers were provided from Swastik Shishu Vihar School after following the due process. However, these two writers were asked to cheat for Harsh and Komal. The writers then told their parents and refused to appear as writers for the next paper.

The very next day, two other students from HB Kapadia School were provided by Kapadia as writers without following the proper procedure. This led to a raid by the education department and brought to light the entire scam.

Dr Sanandiya, who was posted at the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad in 2008 and currently is posted in Surat Civil Hospital, had allegedly issued a fake medical certificate to Harsh, a source said. The counsels for Kapadia and Dr Sanandiya said the two had no role to play in the entire issue. But the court rejected the bail application. Meanwhile, on Monday the case was also listed in the high court before the chief justice. The investigation officer filed the status report on Monday. The court however, adjourned the case till November 22.

Pravin Kotak files anticipatory bail plea:  Pravin Kotak, top builder of the state and father of Harsh Kotak, filed an anticipatory bail application in the sessions court on Monday. Kotak had earlier on April 4 filed for anticipatory bail but later withdrew it.
