A non-resident Indian (NRI) travelling from London to Ahmedabad via Dubai was arrested for creating ruckus in the flight, on Monday morning. The airline staff was so terrified by the passenger that they had to tie his hands up to calm him down. Soon after the flight landed at the city airport, he was handed over to Sardarnagar police.
According to police, the man identified as one Romin Patel, a native of Anand who works in London, was coming to the city in an Emirates flight from Dubai. Cops said while boarding the flight, Patel got involved in a verbal spat with some other passengers.
"When he was handed over to us, he was normal but the complainant said that Patel had created a scene, while the flight was in air, distressing several passengers. When the airline staff intervened, Patel misbehaved with them as well," a police official said. Police said that Patel was drunk. However, according to the complaint lodged by an official of Emirates, Prakash D Patel, Romin allegedly misbehaved and used abusive language with some passengers as well as the airline staff. Sources said that he became so hostile that the staff had to tie his hands to subdue him.
The Sardarnagar police booked Patel under Indian Penal Code (IPC) 294 (b) for using obscene language in a public place. Soon after the flight landed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport, Romin Patel was handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), who in turn sent him to Sardarnagar police.
