PATNA: Drugs worth several lakh were gutted in a devastating fire that broke out in the drugs godown of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) here on Sunday.
  
PMCH superintendent Dr O P Choudhry said that drugs worth several lakhs were reduced to ashes as the fire which broke out due to short circuit soon engulfed the entire godown following strong easterly winds.
  
The full extent of the damage was  yet to be ascertained, he said.
  
Senior superintendent of police Amit Kumar said that four fire brigades were deployed to douse the fire and reinforcements from Danapur and Patna city had been sought to extinguish the at fire at the godown.
   
The police would investigate the case from all angles, the SSP said.
