SHIMLA: Six men were arrested for allegedly being in the possession of 17 kg cannabis in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu valley, police said here on Wednesday.

The men, from Punjab's Sangrur district, were smuggling out the drugs in a car near Banjar, 220 km from here, when they were arrested on Tuesday, the officials added.

The cannabis is estimated to cost Rs 3 million in the valley, but is valued many times more in the international market.

"We also found Rs 50,000 cash in their possession and are hoping to carry out more arrests," said Kullu district police chief GD Bhargava.

The scenic Kullu valley is notorious for cannabis, which grows in the wild in abundance.
