Announcing the implementation of Food Security Bill, chief minister Ashok Gehlot also made it clear that entitlement of BPL, state BPL and Antyodaya Anna Yojana will continue at 35 kg per month in the state. He said that quantity of food grains which people are getting under various schemes will not be reduced after implementation of Act.
“Around 38.48 lakh families who are beneficiaries of Antyodaya Anna Yojana will continue to get same amount of wheat while the new 52 lakh families identified will get wheat at Rs 2 per kg as per Food Security Act,” said Gehlot. Over all 90 lakh families in the state will get benefit of the Act, he added.
Presently state government is bearing subsidiary of Rs 250 crore to provide 1.80 lakh metric ton wheat to around 38 lakh families under various schemes but after the implementation of the act the requirement of grains will go up to 2.32 lakh metric tons. “The cost of additional grains will bone by Centre and state will not be giving any subsidiary,” said Parsadi Lal Meena, food and cilvil supplies minister.
Chief minister informed that since the beginning state government has been working in the time bound manner for implementation of this Act. Extensive survey was conducted to identify the beneficiary and complaints were also invited at various levels.
