Ahead of the second informal meeting between PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, scheduled to take place in October, China's foreign office has said that Kashmir won't be a major issue during the forthcoming talks between the two leaders.
The focus would be on issues of strategic importance between the two countries, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying, adding both the leaders should be given time and space to discuss whatever they want.
She said that there is no surety that Kashmir will be discussed during the informal talks.

On Kashmir, Chunying said they see it as a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan and hope that differences could be resolved between New Delhi and Islamabad through peaceful and friendly means.
Modi-Jinping second informal summit will be held in India in October. The meetings are expected to take place in Tamil Nadu's coastal town of Mamallapuram.

The first informal meeting between Modi-Xi Jinping was held in April 2018 in Wuhan, China.
Recently, China after being pushed by Pakistan following India's Article 370 move had proposed for closed-door consultations at the United Nations, however, the talks ended with world body refusing to interfere in the matter or issuing any statement on India's move.
Meanwhile, India had already made its stand amply clear that abrogation of Article 370 was an internal move and that issues between India and Pakistan are bilateral, therefore, there is no room for any third-party interventions.
