Just visit http://techbangalore.com/ auto on your cell phone and get the revised fare in a few moments.

HN Prashanth, a Bangalore-based techie, has come up with a simple Google-esque webpage which has a box where you can enter the meter rate and click on ‘Find!’ and you’ll get the new rate in a jiffy.

“Auto drivers haven’t upgraded their meters in line with the new fare yet and the government has given them three months time to do so. Until then, we have to rely on whatever the driver says or look into the chart which most of the drivers carry. I wrote a simple web application which calculates the new fare. The application returns accurate fare like Rs.27.29 and use your brains to round it up,” Prashanth wrote on his blogpost announcing the application.

“Since I’m a tech blogger I carry at least one review phone with me and I don’t want it to be stolen, so I travel by auto a lot. And after the fare hike I saw that not all auto drivers had that slip with the new rates, so I thought I should make something around it. It’s a very simple application. It wasn’t very difficult to make,” says Prashanth. Sriki, another Bangalorean who has come up with applications for Android and Java phones, has too joined the fare drive.
