DNA EXCLUSIVE: Bharatiya Janata Party to roll out chariot of jobs

The Narendra Modi government is all set to launch another 'Rath Yatra' soon, but not a religious kind, rather one that empowers the youth by providing them jobs on the spot. The Skill Development Ministry will flag off the 'Kaushal Rath Yatra' (the chariot of skill) towards the end of May in poll-bound states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

The Opposition has slammed the government over its inability to generate jobs. The 'chariot of employment' would also go through BJP-ruled Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh as their chief ministers had showed interest in hosting the chariot of the skill ministry.

MoS for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Anantkumar Hegde told DNA: "We are trying to create an ecosystem where skill development and vocational training are not looked down upon, rather are considered at par with higher education courses. We are aiming to empower youth with skill sets early in their career to enhance their employability." Sources said the ministry plans to cover the entire country under this initiative before 2019.

According to sources, the highpoint of the Rath Yatra would be 'skill and employment melas' (fests).
