In a fresh development, DMK whip in Tamil Nadu Assembly has approached Madras HC seeking disqualification of Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and 10 other MLAs for voting against CM E Palaniswami government on February 18 trust vote.

DMK has pointed out that by going against party whip during the confidence motion they are subject to be disqualified under  Tamil Nadu Legislative (Disqualification on ground of Defection) Rules of 1986.

Last week TN Assembly speaker disqualified 18 AIADMK dissident MLAs. According to DMK, speaker disqualified them with malafide intention and instead should take action against Panneerselvam and his team members for voting against the party whip.
