“When A Raja was charge sheeted and arrested, he (Karunanidhi) did not show any compassion. In fact Raja was asked to face the case on his own,” said a DMK leader who wished to remain anonymous.
But Jethmalani’s argument on Friday pointed to one more reality.
“DMK in all probability may dump Raja to save Kanimozhi. Otherwise Jethmalani would not have argued that it is Raja who is responsible for the transfer of money from DB Realty to Kalaignar TV and not Kanimozhi,” NK Kalyanasundaram, a veteran DMK watcher told DNA.
He pointed out that when Raja was arrested, no high-level meeting was called. “But when the CBI named Kanimozhi an accused, DMK called all party leaders. You see the number of MPs who turned out at the special court on Friday to support Kanimozhi. There was not a single MP or MLA when Raja was in court,” Kalyanasundaram said.
