Two Congress members in the Rajya Sabha today sought to give a new twist to the opposition move for impeachment of Karnataka chief justice PD Dinakaran, alleging that he was being targeted because of being a dalit.

As soon the the House took up Zero Hour mentions, Praveen Rashtrapal and JD Seelam were on their feet seeking to raise the issue.

PJ Kurien, who was on the chair, however, refused to allow the members to raise the matter. But the members alleged that Justice Dinakaran was being targeted because he was a dalit.

Rajya Sabha chairman Hamid Ansari yesterday admitted the impeachment notice given by 75 members against justice Dinakaran over land-grabbing allegations.
