Congress general secretary Divijay Singh has attacked the Mayawati government for failing to control law and order and corruption in Uttar Pradesh."There is 'goonda raj' in UP and brokers are making a lot of money while even the officials have to pay monthly sums," he said addressing a rally in Etah district in the state yesterday."This is clear from the fact that a BSP MLA is involved in raping a minor girl", he said.Speaking at the rally, UP Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi alleged, "There is no law and order in the state. The government is fully aware of the ongoing corruption in the state".The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister also accused the BJP and RSS of dividing people on religious lines.He also demanded the resignation of Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa in the wake of corruption charges against him besides that of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi in the background of his alleged role in the Gujarat communal riots of 2002.
