"The Digital India initiative of Prime Minister Modi appears ineffective at first glance. People were not able to watch it (the launch ceremony) in absence of electricity," Maywati said in a statement.

"The Narendra Modi government should first use its energy and resources to fulfill its poll promise of 24x7 power supply," she said, adding "wrong policies and unrealistic programmes will not benefit people."
