The annual techno-cultural magic, Synapse, of Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT) began on Wednesday.

The festival will go on till February 27. However unlike each year, this year, Synapse started with a Youth Run. The aim was to bring youth on a common platform so that they could work towards a better future.

Members of the core team said Synapse is a platform where youngsters can show their talent through - art, culture or technical skills.

"Last year 4000 people attended the annual night and the number this year is likely to touch 6000. Besides colleges and universities from Gujarat, we have also got participants from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi (SRCC), MIT Pune and Dayal Singh College, (Delhi University) among others," said Shreya Agrawal of the Synapse organizing committee.

This year the event will also see increased participation from IITs and IIMs and Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) and Nirma among others.

Mentioning the events lined up for this year's Synapse, Agrawal said, "The inaugural ceremony will have IAS officer and mountain climber, Atul Karwal talking to students followed by hasya kavi sammelan wherein renowned poet Kumar Vishwas will entertain the young crowd. For, the celebrity night we have Tochi Raina as the star performer. On the fashion night, Rampage, various teams will battle it out on the ramp for the coveted title. This will be followed by special performance by Aditya Narayan."

Synapse will conclude with a rock show and competition where four pan-India bands will fight for the title. The celebrity bands for the event are Scribe and Abraxas.
