Several shops were gutted in a fire in Assam's Golaghat district today, police said. The fire, caused by an electric short circuit, destroyed two restaurants, one garage, a chemist shop and a furniture shop in Borpathar area of the town. Losses due to the fire have been estimated to be more than Rs30 lakh, the police added.
