Delhi Unlock Update: Academic gatherings at school and colleges allowed

Under the seventh phase of unlocking Delhi, the Arvind Kejriwal government has allowed academic gatherings and meetings in schools and colleges from Monday (July 12). However, the students will not be able to attend the institutions physically. 

The institutions will only remain open for teachers and professors for conducting online lectures, seminars and administrative work. The auditoriums and assembly halls of schools and colleges can reopen with fifty per cent capacity. 

Last week, the Department Of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) under the unlock process allowed stadiums and sports complexes to reopen for those training for national and international competitions. However, spectators will continue to be prohibited from entering the stadiums. 

The Delhi Police and Army personnel also received an exemption to attend skill training classes and do not need the permission of the DDMA anymore. 

Earlier, under the phase-wise unlock, Delhi Metro and public transportation have already been allowed to operate with a fifty per cent seating capacity. Before this, Delhi was under complete lockdown from April 19 to May 30. 

On Saturday, Delhi recorded seventy-six new cases of COVID-19 and one death. The positivity rate slipped to 0.09 per cent, according to data shared by the health department here.
