Delhi to release Pak man who married an Indian, faked passport

 A week after Hamid Nehal Ansari was released, India will be releasing Pakistani National Imran Warsi next week who was locked up in an Indian jail for last 10 years. He is likely to be released by 24th, Monday and subsequently be repatriated on the 26th of December because the Pakistani High Commission officials would not be able to facilitate his repatriation on 25th December. It is the birth anniversary of Pak founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah and is an official holiday which bars all Pakistan mission from working across the world.

Warsi came to India in 2004 on a valid Indian visa with a Pakistani passport and was arrested in 2008 in Bhopal for having fake passport after his visa expired on the original one. He was in love with an Indian girl whom he married and has 2 kids. He was in a Bhopal jail for 10 years and released in January 2018. He had to remain in jail beyond January of 2018 since he could not pay fine instructed by the courts. Pakistan high commission in New Delhi also did not extended support to him to pay the money. 

Thanking India for his release, Warsi said, "I had come to India to meet my relatives. Then I fell in love with a girl and married her. But soon my visa expired. Complaints were filed against me and I was jailed for 10 years. I am looking forward to meeting my mother. I would like to thank everyone who helped me"

The measure comes as a ray of hope for the 11 Indian prisoners who have completed their sentence but are still languishing in Pak jails. Pakistani side claims to have 32 of such Pak national prisoners in Indian jails as well.

The development comes in the backdrop of the growing cases of diplomats being harassed incidents in Islamabad with the Indian High Commission in Islamabad bringing all instances of breach of diplomatic norms and protocol to the notice of the Pakistani MOFA.
