Delhi Police registers FIR against 66,000 people for lockdown violation

In the national capital, there are 435 coronavirus cases, with six deaths.

Delhi Police on Saturday stated that the First Information Report (FIR) was registered against 66,000 people under the Delhi Police Act for violating lockdown conditions imposed by the government.

"3350 FIRs have been lodged under Section 188 of IPC, 10000 vehicles impounded. Around 40 FIRs were lodged against the violators of home quarantine," Delhi Police Public Relations Officer MS Randhawa stated.

Moreover, he told the media that Delhi Police is providing cooked food to around 2 lakh people, and providing rations to 6,000 families for 10 days.

"With the help of NGOs, Delhi Police are providing cooked food to around 2 lakh people & ration to 6,000 families for 10 days. We are also ensuring an adequate supply of essential supplies in the state," Delhi police said.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday stated that that there are only 40 COVID-19 positive cases that happened due to local transmission, the rest of the cases are due to foreign travel and Nizamuddin Markaz incident.

He also informed that there is no evidence that showed community transmission, adding that the situation is under control.

Kejriwal also posted developments of the condition of COVID-19 patients lodged in various hospitals in the national capital."Out of all the COVID-19 patients in Delhi that are admitted, 11 are in intensive care units (ICUs) and 5 are on ventilators, all others are in stable condition," Kejriwal added.

Earlier Kejriwal said that people told to home quarantine themselves are being tracked through their phone numbers.

"We handed over a list of 11084 phone numbers to police yesterday & 14345 phone numbers today of people who have been asked to remain in home quarantine. The police will track if they are following the instructions on home quarantine or not," Kejriwal said.

He also informed that 328 relief centres have been set up to accommodate 57,000 people.
