A Delhi police constable has been arrested from the national capital in connection with the murder of a lawyer at Kheri Gani village here.

Devender Kumar, posted in Delhi, was arrested yesterday from the national capital by Uttar Pradesh Police and brought to the district here for allegedly being involved in the  murder of lawyer Sanjeev Malik who was shot dead on May 19 by four persons, said Jagdish Singh, SHO, Phugana Police Station.

According to preliminary investigations, Kumar, who hails from a nearby village, was in a land dispute with Malik and had hired four persons to kill him, he said.

The four accused were later lynched by an irate mob at the village under Phugana Police Station here, police said.

Malik's family members had lodged a complaint against Kumar, following which the constable was arrested yesterday, Singh said.

Malik was former General Secretary of Budhana Bar Association.
