Delhi-Meerut expressway to start tomorrow, travel distance to be reduced to 50 minutes

For the first time, automatic number plate reading cameras have been installed on this high-way on an experimental basis.

Those who travel between Delhi and Meerut are going to get some relief as the journey will be reduced to just 50 minutes. The Delhi-Meerut expressway will be opened for the public from April 1.

On Tuesday, the expressway was opened for trial but from April 1, vehicles will be allowed on it.

Delhi-Meerut Expressway will pass through several cities of western Uttar Pradesh. People travelling from Delhi to Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, as well as people of Uttarakhand will also be able to take advantage of this. This expressway will connect Delhi Akshardham to Noida Mor, Ghazipur Murga Mandi- Indirapuram, Duda Heda, Dasna and the Eastern Peripheral expressway.

'Toll as much as travel'

Toll collection will also begin with the beginning of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. Although toll rates have not been yet decided. The journey will cost as much money on this highway. It may be noted that if there is no fastag then you will not be able to travel. 

Toll will also have to be paid to cover a distance of 3 km from Sarai Kale Khan to UP Gate. The cameras will capture the vehicle's entry and exit, and the toll will be deducted accordingly.

This will be the speed limit

For the first time, automatic number plate reading cameras have been installed on this high-way as a test. These cameras will not only read the front and rear number plates of the vehicle but will also match both number plates. A speed of 70 km per hour has been set from Delhi to UP Gate and 100 km per hour from UP Gate to Meerut. Two-wheelers and tractors will be banned on the expressway.
