Ending days of speculation after the Dabur group backed out of the Mumbai team, Mumbai Magicians, HIL announced on Sunday that another firm, DoIT Sports Management, has taken up the franchise in the multi-city league.

This means that the HIL, so far, has six teams confirming their participation, with Pune being the latest addition to the it. Reports suggest that Ranchi Rhinos may pull out of the league due to financial reasons. The officials are yet to finalise the eighth team that they plan to have from the next season beginning in January 2015.

Hockey India secretary general and HIL chairman Narinder Batra said in a release, "We welcome DoIT Sports Management on board the Hockey India League. As they already have immense knowledge in the sports arena, we are confident that they will have a positive impact on this season's Hockey India League."

The company is a creative sports entity, and marked its foray into sports with the ownership of the Delhi franchise of the recently-concluded Pro Kabaddi League – Dabang Delhi.

"The pride and passion associated with India's most successful Olympic team sport, hockey, is well known the world over. DoIT Sports aims to take the same passion and pride to the field in the world's premier hockey tournament – the Hockey India League," Radha Kapoor, director of DoIT Sports Management, said in a release.
