A Delhi court on Monday extended the police custody of Davinder Singh, a Jammu and Kashmir Police officer who is accused of ferrying two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists, till April 3. Singh was arrested earlier this year.

During the hearing in the Patiala House court, the Delhi Police submitted that thae accused needs to be confronted with the other accused Syed Naveed Mushtaq and Imran Shafi Mir who have also been arrested in the case.

The court directed the police to conduct his medical examination every 48 hours.

Earlier, the court had sent Syed Naveed Mushtaq and others to police custody till April 3 after police told the court that they were planning to execute terror attacks in Delhi and other parts of the country.

The Delhi Police had filed an FIR under Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) alleging  that the youths of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab are being trained for carrying out terrorist activities. The FIR also mentioned D Company and Chhota Shakeel, saying that the Special Cell of Delhi Police had received an input that the former is funding pro-Khalistan terrorist organisations in Punjab. Davinder Singh is likely to be questioned on all these aspects.

Singh was suspended from the Jammu and Kashmir Police in January this year. The Special Cell had brought him to Delhi from Hira Nagar Jail in Jammu and Kashmir.
