Delhi Congress leaders protest against railway fare hike
Continuing protest against hike in railway fare and freight charges, Delhi Congress leaders on Monday held a demonstration in the city, leading to traffic jam in Viswas Nagar area of east Delhi for several hours.The Congress workers sat on dharna on a road and also broke the police barricade.
The protestors, led by DPCC chief Arvinder Singh Lovely, senior leader Haroon Yusuf, raised slogans against the BJP-led government at the Centre for increasing the railway fare and freight charges.
"The hike in the freight charges will result in all-round price rise. Prices of pulses, fruits, vegetables and other essential commodities will increase sharply," DPCC chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma said.
Yusuf said Congress is against such "anti-people" rail fare hike by the Narendra Modi Government.
