The airspace over Delhi will be closed for seven hours on Independence Day to prevent airstrikes from small aircraft or helicopter. The closure will happen in two phases, from 6am to 10 am and then from 5pm to 7pm. The bar applies only to charter flight operators, non-scheduled flights and private aircraft, not airlines or military aircraft.

The closure might slow down early morning flights originating from Delhi, said a source. The Delhi International Airport Limited is coordinating with airlines to ensure that passengers are not inconvenienced. The airport handles 600 flights daily.
