NEW DELHI: The Delhi Bar Council has issued notices to senior advocates R K Anand and I U Khan regarding the BMW expose by a private news channel and sought their comments.

Taking suo moto cognizance in reference to the sting operation by NDTV against the two lawyers, a three-member fact finding committee has asked Mr Khan and Mr Anand to submit their replies by July 20.
   
A complaint has also been registered against Mr Anand, who is defending main accused Sanjeev Nanda, the grandson of former Navy Chief S M Nanda and Mr Khan, the public prosecutor.
  
The committee comprises Mr C L Sachdeva, Mr Surya Prakash Khatri and Mr Rajinder Singh Rana.   
  
The sting operation claimed to expose the alleged collusion between defence and prosecution in the 1999 BMW hit-and-run case.
  
Delhi Police had dropped Mr Khan from its panel of lawyers appointed for the case after it was alleged that he influenced the eye witness--Sunil Kulkarni.
  
On January 10, 1999, six people were mowed down on the Lodi road, allegedly by a BMW driven by Sanjeev Nanda. Others who have been chargesheeted are his friend Manik Kapur and Siddharth Gupta, who were allegedly accompanying him in his car.
