The Central Election Commission of India, on Monday, announced the election dates for the Delhi Assembly elections 2015.

Speaking to media, Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath said, "Delhi Assembly elections will take place on February 7, 2015."

Model Code of Conduct comes into immediate effect.

The election in Delhi will be conducted on a single day. "The notification for the election will be issued on January 14, while the last date for filing nomination will be January 21. The scrutiny of the election applications will be undertaken on January 22," said VS Sampath.

​He further added, "Those candidates who want to withdraw their application from the election can withdraw it by January 24. The counting will be done on February 10.

Delhi has 70 Assembly constituency seats with 12 reserved seats for Schedule caste(SC). 

Sampath further added, "Candidate must fill all options in nomination, if he doesn't the nomination is liable for rejection. As per directions of Supreme Court, EC has made provisions for NOTA in the EVM machines.”

Delhi consist of 1, 30, 000,00 voters in Maharashtra and polling will be conducted on 11, 763 polling stations.

The CEC further added, "Photo voter slips will be issued by officials of Election Commission. Web and sms based faciltiies for voters will be introduced. All steps shall be taken for formation of video surveillance teams and flying squads" 

Meanwhile, Sampath also announced dates for bypolls.
