Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday remembered his wife Medha on his 60th birthday. Medha, passed away in 2001 following illness, a little before Parrikar became the Chief Minister of Goa for the first time.

"Who was supposed to be 55 (this year), she (Medha) left me at 40," Parrikar said while referring to the Hindi song "Jab tum hoge saath saal ke" played little before the formal reception.

A civic reception was hosted here to celebrate his 60th birthday. He said the Goa people never allowed him to feel her absence.

"But public never allowed me to feel her absence. I am at this position due to love given by people of Goa," the Union Minister said.
