The AIADMK today urged the Tamil Nadu government to provide "maximum protection" to party supremo Jayalalithaa, following a death threat issued to the Opposition leader.In identical letters to chief secretary and principal home secretary, AIADMK treasurer and deputy legislature party leader, O  Panneerselvam and headquarters secretary KA Sengottaiyan also demanded action on the death threat, received at pro-AIADMK television channel Jaya TV recently.In the letter, released to the media, they said that the opposition leader, enjoying 'Z plus' security, has been issued a death threat -- a complaint against which had already been filed with the DGP."We request you to direct police to take immediate action on the complaint and provide maximum security to Jayalalithaa," they said.On August 28, Jaya TV received a letter in which the sender warned Jayalalithaa to cancel her proposed Madurai rally next month and threatened to kill her and her followers in a bomb attack if she went ahead with it.With elections scheduled for next May, Jayalalithaa has been going on a virtual campaign spree, organising public meetings at Coimbatore and Tiruchirappally, which attracted huge crowds.
