Soon after news of Vinod’s death surfaced, massive political clashes were reported in the area and associates of Binay allegedly set Trinamool Congress leader Pradeep Tiwari’s house on fire. Moreover, his house was also ransacked and his godown set on fire.

The mob set fire to four trucks and a private car, the police said adding it also made an effort to set ablaze a godown. Five fire tenders later controlled the blaze, the police said. Later, police rushed to the spot and took control of the situation.

The incident is a fall-out of a clash between two groups in the railway yard in Shalimar in which two persons were injured on April 7.

On April 6, amidst the TMC's factional feud at the Shalimar railway yard, one faction opened fire and Binod and his nephew Rajesh Singh sustained serious injuries. While Binod was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata, he was later shifted to a hospital in Howrah, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Security personnel including RAF members were deployed in the area and the situation is now under control, the police said.
