DD employee held for taking nude sunbath

An assistant engineer posted at Doordarshan transmitter station at the historic Sinhagad Fort was found nude sun-bathing on Sunday morning. After a group of people recorded his act on video, the assistant engineer was arrested on the charges of hurting religious sentiments and outraging women's modesty.

Latiff Sayyed, the 52-year-old arrested Doordarshan employee, was seen sitting on a chair at the transmission centre without wearing clothes.

According to police, a group of 15 people, including women, had gone to Sinhagad fort. "These fort-lovers were walking past the Doordarshan transmission centre when they spotted Sayyed sitting nude on a chair. Seeing him, some of the group members took out their mobile phones and recorded a video for evidence," inspector Vishwambhar Bhimrao of Haveli police station said.

In a video, Sayyed is seen getting up from the chair after noticing that he was being filmed. He immediately took a towel and wrapped it around his waist.

The group members filed a complaint against him with the police. Sayyed was arrested later in the day. Police have slapped charges under Sections 295 (a) and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
