The fireworks display was held at around 3 AM today.

Fireworks, branded or traditional, containing dangerous and prohibited potassium chlorate or any other harmful chemicals were not allowed for display.

The rituals concluded after the presiding deities from Paramekkavu and Thiruvambady Devi temples 'bid farewell' to Lord Vadakkumnathan, promising that they would meet him next year for Pooram.

Thrissur district administration had taken steps to ensure safety and security of the thousands of people who thronged to participate in the festivities.

Police sources said no untoward incidents were reported during the grand spectacle yesterday.

PESO had sanctioned the manufacture and conduct of the fireworks with stipulations on the size and combination of the items to be used, district officials had said.

Restrictions on firework display had been imposed in the state following the firework tragedy at Puttingal Devi temple at Paravoor in Kollam District in April last year that killed 108 people and left scores severely injured.

Last year, the Kerala High Court had allowed low-decibel fireworks display at night during Pooram festival.
